By the end of this course students will be able to: 
-Explain how geographic features contributed to the settlement and growth of Rome.
-Describe the events of the Punic Wars.
-Determine the impact of Julius Caesar and Octavian Agustus.
-Describe the empire's history and legacy.
-Identify inventions and achievements of the Roman Empire.
-Analyze gender roles and social structures in the Roman Empire.

I have a master's degree in Political Science, and postgraduate studies in economics, Human Development, and Gender, as well as a B.A. in Legal Studies. I was an elementary school teacher for five years, teaching world history and literature as my main subjects. I fell in love with Roman history while living and working in Rome -for over a decade, I was a consultant and researcher for various feminist NGOs, the United Nations, and the World Bank.
