수업 소개
This is a class that is very self-structured and student-led at times. I will give you the tools to speak about the test and to know what is on the test. Above all, I will show you what strategies to employ in order to finish the test given the content and time constraints. (30 minutes) The class will start with drills related to focused areas in math, reading, or writing. (30 minutes)After clarifying questions, we will go over the homework from the previous day (often to finish an SAT practice test). I like to take this opportunity to have students ask questions of other students. I am there to lead a discussion and keep us on track but the student teaching gets a more solid grasp while also helping someone who has a question. Peer to peer learning is more effective than direct instruction and we will employ it to the fullest. (20 minutes) - I hope to employ real-time SAT games and drills that we can finish in teams to make the process a bit more fun and high stakes. If we can overcome the anxiety of competition with a friendly classroom environment, it is a step toward being ready for the nerves on the day of the test! (10 minutes) - I will go over homework expectations, share worksheets, and describe in detail what I expect you to bring to the next class. I also take this time to continue to ask what you need from me. How can I improve the class? How can your learning style be more incorporated and seen? We learn better when we all are on the same page. You will learn what will be covered within the Math portion of the SAT (Heart of Algebra, Problem Solving and Data Analysis, Passport to Advanced Math, and Additional Topics in Math). If you are unsure of what those categories mean in parenthesis, not to fear! You will learn in the class. I will teach you how to more quickly read through the mentally tasking reading comprehension question. I will teach you a "question first" and flipped test design to give you more time to think and less time to read. You will learn the difference between context-dependent questions and context-specific questions and how to best approach them. For the writing portion, we will explore the types of sentences and clauses, grammatical uses of commas, semi-colons, colons, etc... in great detail so that you can narrow your answers quickly and move on to the next question. Time is of the essence with the SAT! It is a test that you can study to and that you have to study to because, with the right training, you will already know what is going to be on the test before you sit for it. I have math drills to complete, a variety of SAT practice tests, speed reading challenges and intensive writing practice. All of this will come in the form of games occasionally to lighten things up. Let's have some fun and let's get you on to the next step in your life! Lastly and perhaps most importantly, I will teach you how to take the test. When do you skip questions and what are the consequences? When do you read a passage and when do you skip it? When should you guess? When should you avoid using your calculator? What patterns are seen in the test that you can rely on when you are stumped? These are some questions that will be answered when it comes to the test-taking part of the test to lower your anxiety and improve your performance. In the end, we are here for each other to get you to improve that score, improve your chances to get into that dream school, and ascertain a brighter future! Let's get started!

교사 전문성 및 자격증
I have been teaching SAT test prep in Boston Public Schools and as a private tutor for five years now. I have worked with a large variety of students and find that I can connect with a multitude of people to find your learning style, your motivations, and the things that make the test click. I am very comfortable with online tutoring and have an in-home classroom complete with whiteboard and webcam. Many students who have done my SAT Prep classes online have felt that they were actually sitting with me. And the results speak for themselves. My most recent student improved her score from the low 1200's to the mid-1400's with just four months of tutoring. That's a big difference in your future and a lot more opportunity to get where you need to be. That's what I am here for and that is why I love this job!
