This is a four week course of Edgar Allan Poe's life and works. Week 1: Intro to Edgar Allan Poe's poetry. Not all of Poe was about horror and short stories. He was also a prolific poet and literary critic. We will look at some of his poetry and study "The Raven" in particular. The instructor will read "the Raven" to the class. We will examine it through slides and discussion. The last part of class we will talk about the final project due on week 4 and it will be assigned. Assigned reading...
Learners will learn about the tumultuous life of Edgar Allan Poe along with a few examples of his most famous works.
I hold a Masters Degree in English and Literature with a specialty in 18th and 19th century Gothic Literature. I wrote my masters thesis over Edgar Allan Poe and his Feminine Ideal. I have experience teaching Gothic Literature in both public school and online. Plus, I really love this material and study it for fun!

Homework will mainly consist of short story reading. There is also an end project in the form of a report, summary, or powerpoint. I will talk about the project on day 1 week 1 and it will be due week 4. The project is in addition to the reading.수업 외 주당 1 - 2 시간

등록 시 4개의 파일을 볼 수 있어요.Poems "the Raven", "Tamerlane," "Evening Star," and "Spirits of the Dead " are attached and should be read for the discussion on the first day of class.
All stories and materials will be provided by the instructor in class. No outside third-party tools will be used with the exception of a possible You Tube educational video. The video is optional depending on class time. Note: Edgar Allan Poe and Gothic literature in general are dark works in nature and may contain scary or horrorific themes.
No outside sources will be utilized. Although, some links to existing websites like the "Edgar Allan Poe Society" may be given for further research on the subject.
