In this class, students will master how to read irregularly spelled sight words using their decoding skills rather than memorizing whole words. The heart word method is based on the science of reading, which helps students map words in their brain similarly to decodable words. Each week, students will learn 4 new sight words by identifying the sounds they can decode and learning the parts of the word that do not follow spelling rules. Students will learn how to decode irregularly spelled words using the Heart Word Method.
I am a licensed teacher specializing in Preschool through 6th grade, as well as Early Childhood Special Education. I have 10 years of experience teaching Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade. I learned how to teach The Heart Word Method through LETRS training and certification.
