In this one time class, learners will create the simplest tabletop puppet show. They will make at least one stick puppet (if time allows, they will be encouraged to add more) and a set for their show. The sample show for the class will be Gingerbread Man, and the learners will make the main character puppet by drawing, decorating and cutting, then attaching a stick. Learners will have the knowledge to continue creating more puppet shows of this kind, as they can make many variations of sets and character designs. I hope they will also have fun while making and playing with their puppet show.
We will need some paper to make characters, and at least one large sheet to make the set. Two old manila folders can be used instead of paper, one for the set, one for characters. We will also need craft sticks or plastic straws for the puppets, tape, a pencil, an eraser, scissors, crayons or colored pencils, and markers. Please make sure you are comfortable with scissors and tape. May be tearing tape in small piece and having them ready before class is a good idea for younger learners.
