Being a teen these days is stressful. But practices like yoga, mindfulness, and breath control provide tools that can help teens to reduce stress, improve their mood, and develop physical fitness. In this 45-minute class, I will guide your teen through a vinyasa-style yoga flow, deep breathing, and savasana (rest). The yoga flow will help your learner to develop balance, strength, and flexibility. The deep breathing and mindfulness aspects of this class will help your teen to calm their nervous system, build self-awareness, and collect tools for the moments outside of class when life gets stressful. I am a precise and descriptive yoga teacher, so even if your teen has never taken a yoga class before, they will receive the guidance they need to be successful in my class.

Please note that yoga is a physical activity. Injuries can occur if students are not supervised or if they don't follow the instructor's directions.
Students should wear comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing and have bare feet or non-slip yoga socks to avoid slipping. Students may also want to have a full water bottle available to hydrate throughout class. I recommend that students use a yoga mat, but if one is not available, they can use a towel on a non-slip surface. Students will also need an open, clear space for yoga.

I am a certified yoga teacher (CYT-200) and have extensive experience teaching yoga to children, teens, and adults. Additionally, I spent seven years teaching middle school and SEL (social-emotional learning) as a licensed K-12 special educator.
After spending seven years in the classroom, I earned my 200-hour yoga certification and transitioned to teaching yoga full-time. I have been grateful to be able to continue serving teens in this new capacity, as I believe that learning yoga and mindfulness practices at this age will not only make a difference in the day-to-day of their teen years but will also support them for the rest of their lives.
