Having good grammar skills and understanding is important but all those terms and rules can seem complicated. What if you’re not sure how to tell a simple sentence from a complex sentence, an adverb from an adverbial phrase (and is it fronted or not?), or an inverted comma from one that has the good sense to stay the right way up? Don’t worry though, in this ongoing class we take a look at various aspects of SPaG and practice identifying and using them in an informal, confidence-building...
Students will: Explore various aspects and rules of spelling, punctuation and grammar. Practice identifying word classes, types of punctuation and spelling errors in given texts Practice using what they learn in their own writing
Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, along with Theatre Arts, I've almost 20 years of experience in teaching English in primary schools. Over those years, I have worked regularly with groups of children specifically on English writing skills and also SPaG lessons daily in term time for several years; as well as teaching English online. I have also tutored students in SPaG skills on a 1:1 basis over the last 3 years, to improve general skills and for tests and exams. I have edited both creative and formal work over many years on a voluntary basis and have recently joined the writing/ editing group for an educational platform.
A notebook or paper and something to write with, or a device to use for writing. A small whiteboard may be handy but by no means necessary.
All content is age-appropriate.
