Students will improve their understanding of Ocean Garbage Patches by understanding what they are, where they are, the impact they have on the environment, ideas on how to get rid of them, and how they can take action to be part of the solution.
My Bachelor's of Science degree in Geology, my professional experience working as a Geologist, my 8 years of teaching an array of different science classes and science topics as a California State Credentialed Science Teacher, and my experience working as a Science Camp Instructor qualify me to teach topics covered in this class.
Notebook or journal for writing down information during the class sessionn
YouTube may be used in a screen-share manner to show a video about Ocean Garbage Patches. The video will aid in students' understanding of these huge patches of trash in our oceans. No account is required. Specifically, the video is from NOAA's National Ocean Service channel on YouTube. I will be using Canva to design and create my presentation for this class. Students may be asked to use the "whiteboard" feature of Canva as an interactive tool to participate in classroom activities such as creating models.
