In this one-time class, I will teach how to recognize and replace overused words with synonyms that are not as common. I will cover the following synonym and antonym topics: matching a word with a synonym and antonym, identifying them in sentences, discussions regarding how they change the meanings of sentences, and mad lib type games.

The class will be structured like a group discussion. I will ask questions to gauge how much knowledge and experience the group has in creating and identifying synonyms and antonyms. If the group does not share correct answers to the questions asked, I will explain the answers. The learners are welcome to take notes. After the class is comfortable identifying and matching synonyms and anonyms to the words I show, we will play some fast-paced games. The last activity we will do is a mad lib fill in the blank. The learners will be able to share their paragraph with the class so we can compare the different synonyms used. For this class, my teaching style will be a blended style because some my planned discussions, games, and activities might change, depending on the students' needs. The learners will be encouraged to interact with each other and myself through discussions, sharing their thoughts, and participating in our fast-paced games.
