My approach is personalized to meet each student’s unique needs, ensuring they feel supported and equipped to thrive in their reading journey. While I often incorporate Epic Books and Super Teacher Worksheets as resources, I’m flexible and happy to adapt to the best tools and materials for your child. Each session is thoughtfully structured to maximize growth and enjoyment. For younger readers or those needing extra phonics support, we begin with targeted exercises to strengthen pronunciation and enunciation. Next, we transition to reading practice, focusing on comprehension through engaging and interactive activities. I utilize the reciprocal teaching technique to guide students in becoming active and confident readers: Predicting: Students make predictions about the text, activating prior knowledge and setting a purpose for reading. Clarifying: Students identify and clarify challenging words or concepts to ensure understanding. Questioning: Students create and answer questions about the text, building deeper connections and critical thinking skills. Summarizing: Students summarize the text in their own words, reinforcing comprehension and retention. With this approach, students improve their reading skills and develop strategies they can use independently to tackle any text confidently.
