Each fiddler will learn how to play many different types of fiddle music that is geared to build upon what they already know.  We will start class with fun fiddle games that teach bowing styles, scales, intonation and more.  Then, we will practice together the tunes they are already working on and how to add ornamentation if they are ready!  Then we will try a new song.  Young fiddlers will enjoy my high energy class and be challenged to progress from whatever level they are at, to progress at their own ability in this custom class with YOUR child in mind.  

A Sample Lesson:
2 minutes:  Welcome, tune your fiddle, talk about practicing and answer questions
5-8 minutes:  Skills:  Scales, bowing patterns, games, note reading, note value and more.
8-10 Minutes:  Review music from previous weeks, adding ornamentation, speed, and working out the kinks!
8-10 minutes:  Learn a new tune.  Based on your current skill level, we will learn a new fiddle tune.
2 minutes: Wrap it up, discuss things to practice that week, answer questions.

I have been teaching for over 25 years including private and group lessons, youth orchestras, and played in community orchestras and church orchestras as well as solo work.  My fiddle learning started when I studied as a teen in Slovakia.  I played in a music school's folk orchestra and we toured around many places playing the folk and fiddle music in festivals.  I had so much joy from it that I have continued to play this style of music for my own enjoyment as well as many students.

Fiddlers should practice according to their ability.  Beginners should practice 10-15 minutes a day, every day.  More advanced fiddlers should practice 20-30 minutes every day.
