수업 소개
📖 This summer, young readers are invited to embark on a journey through inspiring, magical, and heartwarming stories! In this middle school summer book club, learners will read one incredible book each month and meet weekly for fun, thoughtful discussions, creative activities, and meaningful connections. Each story we explore highlights important themes like perseverance, friendship, identity, and hope — perfect for the growth and curiosity of middle school years. Whether your learner is a confident reader or building their reading skills, they'll find a welcoming, low-pressure environment where their voice matters. This is an interactive club — not a lecture! 💬 Learners will share ideas, answer fun discussion questions, and participate in creative, project-based activities. 🎨 Artistic and imaginative minds welcome: optional activities include drawing, journaling, and even designing their own book covers! 🎤 Every student is encouraged to participate at their comfort level — this is a supportive, judgment-free zone. Our Summer 2025 Reading Adventure: 🌟 June: Ghost by Jason Reynolds (Overcoming challenges, sports, family) 🌟 July: When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed (Resilience, family, hope in tough times) 🌟 August: The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill (Magic, bravery, destiny) 🎯 Target Age Range: 10–14 years old (ideal for rising 5th–8th graders) 📅 Weekly Breakdown (for Each Book): Week 1: Welcome + Introduction to the Book 📖 Icebreaker: "If you could have any superpower, what would it be?" 📖 Meet the author: Learn about the writer and the inspiration behind the story. 📖 Predict what the story might be about based on the title, cover, and summary. 📖 Set simple reading goals together for the month. Week 2: First Half Deep Dive 📖 Talk about the characters: Who do you relate to? Who surprises you? 📖 Explore early conflicts and challenges. 📖 Fun creative activity: Draw a "map" of the story’s world so far OR create a "character trading card." Week 3: Second Half Discussion 📖 Focus on turning points and big moments. 📖 How do the characters change? What lessons are hidden in the story? 📖 Group activity: If you could change one thing about the story, what would it be? Week 4: Final Reflections + Celebration 📖 Favorite quotes, favorite scenes, and lessons learned. 📖Creative project: Design a new book cover or write a "letter to the author." 📖 Look ahead to next month's adventure!

For over 15 years, I have been passionately dedicated to education, with the past nine years focused on homeschooling diverse learners. My teaching philosophy centers around helping students explore complex ideas through multiple perspectives, encouraging critical thinking about the narratives that shape our world.
I specialize in supporting neurodivergent students — including those with ADHD, autism, and other learning differences — by fostering environments where every learner's unique strengths are valued. Through strategic support in executive functioning, confidence-building, and personalized learning techniques, I aim to create inclusive spaces where students feel understood and empowered.
My Literature through Film series blends deep literary analysis with an exploration of storytelling across mediums, encouraging students to examine how history, culture, symbolism, and directorial choices influence adaptations. I integrate historical context, authorial intent, and primary sources to give students a richer, more layered understanding of literature.
In addition to my literature and media analysis classes, I have extensive experience leading middle and high school book clubs, teaching English, History, Personal Finance, and Engineering within homeschool groups and co-ops. My professional background also includes sensitivity training and diversity workshops, which inform my inclusive and student-centered approach.
Above all, I believe every student has something valuable to contribute. My mission is to help learners discover their voices, talents, and potential while providing tools that make education engaging, accessible, and meaningful for students of all abilities.
