SUMMER BREAK SESSION
NOTE: I will refund for weeks families are on vacation - please notify me by Sunday that fee is paid.
Does your learner love art and/or building things? Does he or she love learning about difference people and places around the world? If yes, this is a great combination class!
In this summer social studies art and building class, learners will engage in arts and craft projects that teach them about people and landmarks around the world. Students will watch a short video introducing the landmark and then will create a class project.
Every two weeks students will walk away with a piece of art or built piece - including paintings, crafts, pastel images and sculptures.

LOST CITY OF POMPEII
Nearly 2,000 years ago, Pompeii was a bustling city located in what is now southern Italy. But in the summer of A.D. 79, the nearby Mount Vesuvius volcano erupted. It spewed smoke and toxic gas 20 miles into the air, which soon spread to the town. Almost overnight, Pompeii—and many of its 10,000 residents—vanished under a blanket of ash.

AMELIA EARHART
Amelia Earhart was a pioneer of aviation. She was the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean. She disappeared during a flight in 1937 and was never found. In 1928 Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. She was a passenger in an airplane that someone else piloted. Four years later she became the first woman—and only the second person—to fly across the Atlantic alone.

I have a master’s degree though the department of education and have been teaching and working with students for the past 20+ years. I am a licensed K-12 special education teacher and was also the academic achievement specialist at my previous in-person school to make sure that all regular education K-8 students were making adequate progress in their academic studies each year. Prior to that I was a therapist for kids ages 5-17 who struggled with behaviors at home and at school.
Throughout my experiences as an art therapist and then as a special education teacher, I have seen that children learn best when engaged in hands-on acitivities. They tend to retain information much more effectively when enaged in active learning. Besides learning the class standards, one of the other focuses for students in this class will be on actively participating.리뷰
