In this class, we will study the history, legends, and mythology of England and gain all the benefits of travel from the comfort of our own homes. Students in this class will learn facts about history and culture through the lens of popular legends and stories. Your child will learn to apply concepts from the core subjects of social studies, history, and literature. At the end of the lesson, we will develop critical thinking skills by discussing what learners think of specific characters, their actions, and their stories, followed by an analysis of what the history and legends tells us about the the people who lived or invented these stories.

We will start with a brief overview of what England's history, discussing the differences between "England", "The United Kingdom", and "Britain". We will concentrate on important events that have shaped the people and society of England. Next, students will hear stories from different time periods. We will focus on the locations of each of these stories and their lasting importance and influence. We close with students sharing and discussing their favorite story or figure from that week.

This is a stand-alone class and no previous knowledge or work is necessary.

Students will receive a printable "Story Explorer" passport and a stamp for England Part 1. They can collect more "Story Explorer" passport stamps by signing up for additional "Story Explorer" classes!
