In this one-time class, we will review/learn for the first time how to graph lines, aka Linear Equations! Learners will then graph several linear equations and then color the gaps in between the lines to create a stained glass window art piece to display or put on a card as a gift for someone, like a Valentine's Day card, a Birthday card, a Christmas card, etc. During the course, learners will be taught how to graph linear equations. If they already know how to graph linear equations, it...
Students will learn/review how to graph linear equations given in the slope-intercept form "y=mx+b" or as constant equations, "x=a" and "y=b".
I have 10 years of experience teaching algebra to students. I've also done fun activities like Jeopardy and Bingo with math topics to keep the course interesting. I have worked with young learners in a one-on-one and small group settings for math tutoring.
Learners will need 2-5 sheets of grid/graphing paper (this can be bought in store or printed online), pencils, erasers, ruler, and coloring utensils like crayons, colored pencils, and/or markers. If learners want to make a card, a thicker paper like construction paper or cardstock is also necessary as well as a glue stick and a pair of scissors.
