In this 4 week course, students will meet twice a week to learn and practice basic Spanish vocabulary including greetings, colors, actions, numbers, feelings, family members, and simple sentences through games, stories and interactive activities.

TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Language or Education Background (Bachelors Degree and/or Teaching Certificate)
2) Native or Fluent Speaker
3) 5+ Years of Experience Working With Youth
4) Have Travelled or Lived in a Country or Territory Where Language is Spoken.
5) Believe in Creating an Inclusive and Welcoming Environment For All Students to Learn

There will be very minimal work to do outside of class, however, some weeks teachers may request that students bring an object or picture to share with the class that relates back to the lesson. For example, during our week exploring colors, teachers may ask each student to bring an object of a particular color to the next meeting, or during our family week, teachers may ask studets to bring a photo of their family to share with the class. These assignments are optional and will be assigned at the end of class with a reminder message posted in the classroom dashboard.

In this course, teachers may integrate interactive features in their presentations using nearpod (https://nearpod.com/). This will allow students to draw on the presentation slides and demonstrate their knowledge in a nonverbal manner in addition to speaking activities and exercises. 

Before class, a link will be posted in the classroom portal that will allow students to access this interactive slideshow. On select slides, students will be able to draw and complete activities. They can submit their work to me so the teacher can gauge their progress and understanding of the class objectives.
