In this 15-week interactive, semester-long Spanish course, we will meet as a group once per week for 45 minutes to learn Spanish. In the class students will develop the ability to understand and communicate in Spanish while reading class novels, stories, playing games and having a ton of fun! Week 1Lesson 1Greetings, Calendar, Emotions, Weather, Numbers 1-30, South American CountriesStudents will learn different ways to greet each other, talk about the weather and calendar and discuss how they feel in Spanish. Students will learn how to form Spanish numbers 1-30 by playing a fun I Spy game. Students will also learn the Spanish speaking countries and capitals of South America.Week 2Lesson 2Colors, Central American CountriesStudents will learn the Central American Spanish speaking countries and capitals. Students will learn Spanish colors, play a colors sorry game and also read a story about colorful cats.Week 3Lesson 3Age, Birthdays, Numbers 32-100, Body PartsStudents will learn the Spanish alphabet. A fun marching song will be used to reinforce vocabulary and a hide and seek game to help practice pronunciation of the letters in the alphabet. Students will continue to learn more body parts in Spanish. Vocabulary will be reinforced through a short Spanish story called Monstruo en el Bosque. Monster guessing game, create your monster activity will be provided.Week 4Lesson 4Alphabet & Body PartsStudents will learn the Spanish alphabet. A fun marching song will be used to reinforce vocabulary and a hide and seek game to help practice pronunciation of the letters in the alphabet. - Students will acquire the Spanish language naturally while having fun reading stories in Spanish, learning new vocabulary words, and playing traditional games to reinforce vocabulary. This class will help students become more fluent and confident in the language. This class will also help students prepare for the national AAPPl language test (I do not administer this exam). The AAPPL test Exam is used to assess a student's proficiency in the language. Students that score high enough will be awarded the bi literacy seal.
I have been a certified Spanish teacher for the past 25 years. I have a masters in education. I lived and studied in Spain for several years so I have a true Spanish accent (castellano). I have attended CI (comprehensible Input) conferences and implement the CI teaching strategy into my lessons.

There will be minimal work to do outside of class, however, it is highly suggested that families encourage their children to practice the new vocabulary and concepts outside of the classroom. Practicing outside of class will give students the opportunity to relate the class material to their own life and environment which will help cement the new language in their brains.Assessment

Google Slides/Screensharing- Class will be delivered using Google presentations and screensharing. Conjuguemos- this site will be used to practice verb conjugation Youtube- I use this platform to share educational videos via screensharing. Quizlet will be used to offer students optional flashcard practice.
The novels will be utilized during this class. Books can be purchased at Wayside Publishing or Amazon if you would like your own copy. Youtube will be used to show videos. Google slides will be used to deliver class information.
