There will be minimal work to do outside of class, however, it is highly suggested that families encourage their children to practice the new vocabulary and concepts outside of the classroom. Week 1- Topic/Theme- Introductions, Calendar, Emotions, Weather, Numbers 1-15, SA speaking countries. Students will learn different ways to greet each other, talk about the weather and calendar and discuss how they feel in Spanish. Students will learn how to form Spanish numbers 1-15 by playing a fun I Spy game. Students will also learn the Spanish speaking countries and capitals of South America. Materials- Vocabulary sheet, South America Map, Weather Diary, Numbers Practice Vocabulary-Numbers 1-15, Greetings, Weather, Emotions Structures- Soy de, Me llamo, Estoy, TPRS-LEVÁNTATE, TOCA LOS PIES, SIÉNTATE Week 2 Topic/Theme- Colors, Numbers 16-31, Students will learn the CA speaking countries. Students will learn how to form Spanish numbers 16-31. Students will practice forming Spanish numbers 1-30 by playing a fun Bingo game in Spanish. Students will learn Spanish colors. Students will also learn the Spanish speaking countries and capitals of Central America. Materials- Vocabulary sheet, Central America Map, Bingo sheet, Colors butterfly or flower wkst, Vocabulary-Numbers 16-30, Greetings, Weather, Emotions, Colors Structures- ES- Mi color favorito es…., El color es……, La capital es…. TPRS- LEVÁNTATE, TOCA LOS PIES, BAILA, SIÉNTATE Week 3 Topic/Theme- Age, Birthdays, Numbers 32-100 Students will learn how to form Spanish numbers 0-100. Counting games will be played and a story about a cat is read in Spanish. Students will discuss their age and birthdays in Spanish. Students will play a Sorry game with colors and numbers. Materials- Vocabulary sheet, Gato story wksts Vocabulary- Months, Day of week, Numbers 10’s place Structures- ES, TIENE, TENGO, HAY (CUÁNTOS GATOS HAY PRACTICE) TPRS- LEVÁNTATE, TOCA LOS PIES, BAILA, JUEGA AL BÉISBOL/VOLIBOL/FA/BASQ, SIÉNTATE Week 4 Topic/Theme- Alphabet & Body Parts Students will learn the alphabet and body parts. A fun marching song will be used to reinforce vocabulary and a hide and seek game to help practice their pronunciation of the letters in the alphabet. Materials- Vocabulary sheet, Alphabet practice wkst, connect the dots wkst with numbers and alphabet, body parts labeling wkst.Students will reinforce body parts in Spanish. Mr. Potato Head (Pobre Enzo) story will be read during class.Vocabulary- body parts, alphabet Structures- TPRS- LEVÁNTATE, TOCA LOS PIES, BAILA, JUEGA AL BÉISBOL/VOLIBOL/FA/BASQ, CAMINA/MARCHA, SIÉNTATE Week 5 Topic/Theme- Body parts Students will learn how to say body parts in Spanish. Students will acquire the Spanish language naturally while having fun reading stories in Spanish, learning new vocabulary words, and playing traditional games to reinforce vocabulary. This class will help students become more fluent and confident in the language. This class will also help students prepare for the national AAPPl language test (I do not administer this exam). The AAPPL test Exam is used to assess a student's proficiency in the language. Students that score high enough will be awarded the bi literacy seal.
