Course Description: This 16-week course is designed to meet the academic requirements for Spanish 1. Students will develop a solid foundation in the Spanish language through listening, speaking, reading, writing. This class is aligned with any of the following Spanish I textbooks in the US: Asi se dice! Level 1, Avancemos! Level 1, Descubre Level 1, Español Santillana Level 1 o Realidades Level 1. Although this is a curriculum based class, it is student-centered, where we will take opportunities to break the ice and interact with Spanish speaking through language repetition through different interactive activities. Please note you will not hear student speaking in lengthy sentences as this is an introductory course and students will learn building sentences structure and acquiring new vocabulary. The course is engaging and interactive while still encouraging and demanding. The goal is students feel comfortable and not to worry about perfecting pronunciation, as that is fine to mispronounce in a language learning process. The homework included is highly encouraged to be completed for the success of the completion of this class. Because of the inclusion of external sites such as YouTube, students must be over 13 as part of Outschool policy. Expectations: Maintain appropriate behavior and etiquette during Zoom sessions. Actively participate and engage in class activities. Grading (if taking the course for academic credit) 25%: Participation 25%: Daily work and assignments 50%: Assessments and presentations
