Students will be introduced to math reading concepts through discussion, slides and games. This is a great class for learners who enjoy games and learning through engaging activities. Students will learn about how to use math in their every day lives. Students will view the Nearpod Slides and activities by viewing them on the teacher's device and participating verbally. Our teachers love discussion and will encourage students to share what they know about math through open ended questions and prompts. Students develop an understanding of the meanings of multiplication and division of whole numbers through activities and problems involving equal-sized groups, arrays, and area models. Students develop an understanding of fractions, beginning with unit fractions. Students view fractions in general as being built out of unit fractions, and they use fractions along with visual fraction models to represent parts of a whole. Students understand that the size of a fractional part is relative to the size of the whole Week of 9/30: Grouping and Multiplication Week of 10/7: Arrays and Multiplication Week of 10/14: Written Multiplication Equations Week of 10/21: Factors and Fact Families in Division Week of 10/28: Written Division Equations Week of 11/4: Multiplication and Division Relationship Week of 11/11: Units in Fractions Week of 11/18: Parts of a Fraction Week of 11/25: NO CLASSES Week of 12/2: Fractions on a number line Week of 12/9: Comparing Fractions
