In this 6-week course, students will learn and practice problem-solving heuristics in the Singapore Math curriculum. Heuristic can help students tackle complex mathematical problems and allow them to solve the problems in an efficient manner.
Heuristics that will be covered are: Model drawing, Guess and check, Make a supposition, Working backwards, Before-After Concept and Look for patterns.
Lesson Structure:
10 min - Teaching and demonstration of heuristic by the teacher ("I Do")
10 min - Guided practice as a group ("We Do")
15 min - Independent practice ("You Do")
