This class is designed for 14-24 month old learners with their parent/caregiver present to ensure engagement, to improve their reasoning skills, ability to follow instructions, taking turns, active listening and communication skills. These are skills that are acquired from as early as 12 months old, which are needed for reading in English Language Arts. Each session is packed with 30 minutes of sheer fun for the learner, whilst you the caregiver learns how to prepare your learner to read. I am a silly goose, so I will teach concepts to your learner; at the same time offering tips, advice and simple activities that can be done at home, to develop the learners memory, which is needed for reading. Each week will be learner directed/guided (or caregiver); based on current developments, fun facts or making up spontaneous songs/stories/plays. The caregiver is free to specifically ask, if they require more assistance on the topic. All classes will include games, singing, movement and puppet interaction. Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a drama teacher, reading specialist, early childhood consultant and professional puppeteer for more than 30 years and I am always making up new games and strategies for reading.
In these changing times learning is becoming static, there are 4 learning styles visual, audio, tactile and kinetic; the tactile and kinetic learner often gets left out. I believe that playing games/learning through play assists with developing a scientific mind; how to interact with others; etiquette; academic learning and social skills.
