What would happen if you switched bodies with your pet? In this live, weekly class, students explore creative writing through fun, silly prompts designed to spark imagination and build confidence. Whether your child already loves to write or needs a little encouragement, this class turns writing into an activity they’ll look forward to.
Each session introduces a new prompt and includes time for guided brainstorming, short writing exercises, and sharing ideas. Prompts include:
“You wake up with wings. What happens next?”
“List the wildest excuses you can think of to get out of homework.”
“Design your dream bedroom—but you’re only a foot tall!”
“You find a time machine. Where do you go?”
“You get to invent a new vegetable. What’s it called?”
At Write from the Heart, your ideas come first. We believe writing becomes exciting when students have something to say. We teach how structure, organization, and grammar help us communicate clearly and creatively. It’s not about learning the rules—it’s about discovering the tools that make writing fun and meaningful.

At Write from the Heart, our goal is to help students find their voices and grow in writing and critical thinking skills. Above all, we believe that education is a personal journey of discovery. It is shaped by the personality of the child, the beliefs and values of the child’s family, and the experiences that the child encounters. It should never be undervalued. We desire to come alongside parents in helping each child through that personal journey.
Veldorah Rice, who is the director of Write from the Heart, as a BA in English, History, and Communication and a MA in English and Film Studies. She oversees the classes and enjoys creating new curriculum and tools for student writers. She has worked at both the high school and collegiate level. Additionally, Veldorah enjoys speaking at homeschool and teacher conferences about writing and helping students find their voices. In her free time, she loves knitting, watching bad movies with her husband and three children, and blogging for the Write from the Heart community.
Veldorah has been a teacher for over 25 years, focusing on cultivating critical thinking skills within the act of writing. She has worked at the middle school, high school, and collegiate level. 리뷰
