Let's Play ASL!  In this playful and interactive class young learners will learn American Sign Language though songs, stories, verses, and finger plays. 

This class follows the format of a traditional circle time and is designed to both teach ASL while also promoting peace, calm, and mindfulness. Each day we will begin with a signed welcoming poem that includes a deep mindful breath, a stretch, and positive thinking as we set our mindset for learning new things. Children will be greeted personally and I will sign their name. Each class we will have a "question of the day" that students will be encouraged to answer. I will teach them how to sign their response, giving me an opportunity to teach new signs that are meaningful and memorable to each child. We will then introduce/review our weekly theme. Each week we will learn new signs though songs, stories, verses, and finger plays. While learning ASL children will also build oral language, literacy, math, and social/emotional skills. This class allows for lots of repetition, giving children many opportunities to practice and gain confidence, all though play! Finally, we will end each day with a mindfulness exercise, a positive affirmation, and a goodbye song.
