수업 소개
We will be learning one or two sight words, depending on the word's length, each class. The focus will be on the spelling of the words. We will review spelling of words from the past 2 weeks. We will cover the following words, in no particular order: that, was, with, they, have, from, what, were, when, there, said, your, each, which, how, their, will, other, about, many, then, them, these, would, make, like, time, look, has, two, more, write, number, way, could, people, than, first, water, been, called, who, oil, long, down, come, made. I will introduce the new word and the kids will repeat it. We will then write the word using our fine motor skills. This can include writing it on paper, in the air, sand, shaving cream, or other fine motor skill material. Our goal schedule will be: 1. small motor - trace it, write it 2. gross motor skill 3. find it, spell it, use it, create it activities Gross motor skills to reinforce the spelling can include jumping jacks, tapping it on our arm, cheerleading the letters. Songs or rhymes may be included as well depending on the word. There will be limited one-on-one interaction with me, but I will try to mention each student's name at least once during class. My teaching style is patient and engaging. I love to bring humor to my class, as it makes the material more fun to learn. I will send a sight word list upon sign-up so students can color in each sight word as we learn it. Prior knowledge of the alphabet and kindergarten and first grade reading skills are required. Students will not need to build on prerequisite knowledge from each prior class and that they will be able to join or leave throughout the course without missing out on key information. Lessons will be adjusted per the group of learners. We will not go through the list in order. I will adjust so we can create sentences.

I love teaching about so many topics including; animals, social studies/geography, science, life skills, and reading/fluency skills.
I have taught for 14 years in brick and mortar schools and online for 5 years, including 3 years of ESL/ESOL. I am TESOL certified. I have experience with the Orton-Gillingham (OG) reading program and teaching kids with ADHD and Dyslexia. I struggled as a learner so understand that everyone learns differently. I like to get to know my students and what they enjoy learning.
I touch on the various ways we learn by hearing, seeing, doing, and talking about the topics.
I am the proud mom of two older boys, ages 22 and 18. I also love animals and have a CUTE dog named Myles and snake named Harley! (You can meet Harley in my Introduction to Snakes class.)
I live in Arizona and enjoy traveling. I have been to Mexico, Israel, England, and most recently Japan.
