What will be taught? Students will learn how European economic and cultural influence expanded through exploration, conquest, and colonization, and the lasting impacts this had on both Indigenous populations and European nations. What topics will you cover? We’ll explore the Age of Exploration, imperialism, mercantilism, cultural transformation, and the economic and political consequences for both colonizers and the colonized. How is your class structured? The class includes a teacher-led video lesson, guided notes, interactive discussions, leveled critical thinking questions, a writing activity, a visual assignment, and a creative evidence-of-mastery project. How will you teach? I’ll use a dynamic and humorous video lecture to present core content, then guide students through structured note-taking, facilitated discussion, and project-based learning that encourages both analysis and creativity. What’s your teaching style? I combine storytelling, humor, and inquiry-based instruction to keep learners engaged while helping them build historical thinking skills. My style encourages curiosity, empathy, and perspective-taking. How much will learners get to interact with you? Students will interact with me during live check-ins, discussions based on leveled questions, feedback on their writing and projects, and through ongoing encouragement during assignments and activities. This class balances video instruction with plenty of student engagement.
