We will cover the name, cause, chemical reaction, symptoms, diagnosis, hospital treatment, prevention, epidemiology, and one to two real-life outbreaks.  We will also watch 2 minutes of a short video (by the National Library of Medicine —  U.S.).  Scombroid fish poisoning is not heavily researched and is generally underreported, so it is a good shorter class to learn about something that is more obscure than other conditions.  

The class will be mostly slides/lecture, with the same (non-graded) “what you know” assessment given at the beginning and end of class on (on a slide), to gauge what was already known vs. what was learned in class.  Learners can ask questions and participate throughout, and also ask questions at the end of class.

There is no outside preparation needed, but I do ask that students have a way to take notes and write down/record their answers to the assessment, whether it be paper and pen/pencil or an electronic device.  I will share answers at the very end of class.  For classes with few learners, we may end a bit early.
