Does your child like scavenger hunts, playing with mud, play dough, collecting rocks, and drawing? Forest schooling brings together science, art, math, writing, engineering, and wellness in nature. A holistic approach to learning, children will receive instruction and hands-on self-led learning opportunities. 
This self-paced format allows learners to work alongside parents as needed, and complete as many hands-on activities as quickly as they want!  Short video lessons (3-5 minutes) will post weekly along with loads of hands-on activities and experiments throughout the course. Some weeks have multiple short videos but all weeks have multiple activities!


Each unit of learning will encourage your learner to grow stronger in a variety of subjects to include science, art, writing, math, and engineering. Unit content overview below:

Sun week 1: seasons mini lesson, sunny scavenger hunt & mapping activity
Moon week 2: moon mini lesson & moon phase journaling 
Earth week 3: earth layers mini lesson and build earth model
Water week 4: water properties mini lesson & ice play activities
Water week 5: water cycle mini lesson & design a water resource for animals
Water week 6: eutrophication mini lesson & runoff remediation engineering 
Rocks week 7: rock cycle mini lesson & start a rock collection
Rocks week 8: rocks vs. minerals, start a naturalist journal, & make math rock soup!


Student supplies: blank journal, clay (play dough or home-made), markers/paint, flashlight, ruler, old tupperware container, and other readily accessible supplies (string, cardboard, scrap paper, pencils, etc.)

I am a licensed teacher, girl scout alumni, hiking enthusiast, and a mother. My teaching style is to give direction, and then watch children learn and grow on their own unique paths. You will find my video lessons to be brief and to the point, while direction for hands-on activity I've given will create hours of engagement in outdoor learning. I am patient, silly, and love to see students share their journey through photos or video to the classroom for a sense of community, if they wish.
