Welcome to our Level 2 Reading Adventures course featuring Scholastic Hello Reader Level 2 books! This ongoing course is tailored for emerging readers who are ready to embark on the next chapter of their literary journey. Each week, students will dive into the captivating world of Scholastic Hello Reader Level 2 books, carefully curated to align with their advancing reading abilities. The course places a strong emphasis on vocabulary expansion, phonics mastery, and regular reading practice to foster a deeper understanding of language and storytelling. Engaging activities and discussions will not only reinforce essential phonics skills but also introduce and reinforce new vocabulary in diverse contexts. Through the exploration of exciting themes within the Hello Reader series, students will further enhance their reading fluency and comprehension. Join us in this ongoing adventure, where Level 2 readers blossom into confident and skilled individuals, navigating the pages of Scholastic Hello Readers with enthusiasm and eagerness. Let the exploration continue! The Level 2 books are approximately First Grade to Second Grade Level. (Guided Reading Level: G-M; Lexile Level: 200L-550L). The Level 2 Hello Readers introduce new vocabulary and longer sentences with easy-to-follow story plots. Learners will expand their vocabulary and improve comprehension. We will also focus on phonics, grammar, language arts, literacy skills and writing skills. (This class ESL-friendly!) Week of Jul. 1 - Germs! Germs! Germs! Week of Jul. 8 - More Spaghetti, I Say! Week of Jul. 15 - Slip! Slide! Skate! Week of Jul. 22 - Hanging out with Mom Week of Jul. 29 - Kenny and the Little Kickers Week of Aug. 5 - Fraidy Cats Week of Aug. 12 - Slower than a Snail Week of Aug. 19 - Shadows Everywhere Week of Aug. 26 - Roller Skates! Because this class is ongoing, learners can enroll at any time. Classes do not build upon each other. Materials will be displayed and used in a Google Slide presentation that is screen shared on the teacher's screen only.

We have experience working with learners of all abilities, including ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ASD and more. Learners of all abilities are welcomed and encouraged to join us in class. Please contact us for more information.

This course was created by and used with permission from Ms. Ashley. Ms. Ashley graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in both education and mathematics. Later, she went on to also earn a TESOL teacher’s certificate. Ms. Ashley currently homeschools all five of her children. She has taught over 10,000+ virtual classes in all subjects over several years on different platforms. She has 18+ years of tutoring/teaching experience, both virtual and in-person, as well as 16 years+ of experience as a volunteer teacher, tutor, and coach in schools and classrooms. In addition to teaching, Ms. Ashley is part of curriculum development and review team for an online ELA and math teaching/tutoring company, where she also serves as a Learning Partner and Academic Advisor for incoming students. Other related experience includes ELA and math tutoring the University of Connecticut Student Center, substitute teaching in the public school system and working for five years as a Financial Controller of a litigation support firm with offices across the United States. Ms. Ashley truly values each and every student, and she hopes to help them to find a love of learning.
