탐색을 통한 읽기와 쓰기: 도마뱀 찾기

This is a one-time class where students will explore the globe in search for geckos. We will conduct our search via text and video clips. We will then conduct our investigation to learn all about them: what are geckos, where do they live, what do they do, what do they eat, how do they get their food? Once we have our data, we will create articles by writing and illustrating to demonstrate what we have learned.

The class will be conducted in an engaging, and interactive manner. We will have whole group reading and discussion (some will be in a read aloud format). Students will view short video clips to further examine geckos. Students will brainstorm their findings together. We will collaborate as we create our own articles to explain what we have learned. Most of all, we will work together and have fun as we learn!

All classes begin with an introduction, explanation of class rules and a reminder of kindness and good manners. We will have an opportunity to share something about ourselves (optional). Throughout the class, we incorporate simple stretching and/or physical exercises to keep our mind and body alert, engaged and active. (These are completely optional, and will not require any additional space.  However, if a student has additional space in their work area, optional exercises may be offered, such as "Let's do 5 jumping jacks together," or "While seated, stretch your arms up toward the sky and count to 10.") We close by sharing something we learned, enjoyed or want to know more about in our class topic.
