In this class, we will continue to explore new sounds in the Phase 3 of Phonics. Phase 3 introduces twenty-five new graphemes: j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er. We will also learn the letter names and continue to consolidate the sounds learnt in Phase 2. The lessons will be structured in the following way: 1. Greetings ( and introductions only in the first class). 2. Quick recap of previously introduced sounds. 3....
Students will continue on their phonological journey and develop their skills to begin reading 2-3 syllable words. They will also work on improving their reading fluency.
I have been teaching phonics under different schemes such as Jolly Phonics, Read Write Inc and Letters and Sounds for the past 6 years in different schools in the UK, as well as a one on one (face to face and online) tutor. During my 15 years of experience as a teacher, I have worked with children for whom English is not their first language as well as with children diagnosed with dyslexia and dyspraxia.
