This intermediate/advanced level class is for readers who already have a foundation of single syllable sight words and who are decoding and spelling most single syllable words.

The "Seeing Stars" portion of this class will target the following reading skills:

- A review of CCVCC words including long vs short vowel sounds and consonant blends
- A review for spelling for vowel combinations: ai, ea, oa, ay, etc.
- A review for spelling for vowel combinations: oi, oy, ow, ou, aw, au
- A review for spelling for combinations: ar, er, ir
- Dividing 2 and 3 syllable words
- Identify common prefixes such as (re, pre, pro, ex, con, etc)
- Identify common suffixes such as (ly, ing, tion, ture, ness, less, le, etc)
- Combing syllables including prefixes and suffixes in order to spell multi-syllable words
- Understand when to double letters when adding a suffix (such as "little")

Students will learn the foundational skills of blending these combinations of letters, while exercising their "symbol imagery" (visual memory.)

The "Visualize Verbalize" portion of this class will target the following reading skills:

* Understanding what is read
* Answering both simple and more complex comprehension questions
* Answering comprehension questions related to drawing conclusions or making inferences
* Oral language comprehension and listening comprehension
* Applying verbal language skills to illustrations in order to practice visualizing skills.
* Practicing skills in describing an image or illustration
