US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Children often struggle to answer questions pertaining to reading passages. In this course, students will learn to look for keywords in each question and answer choices. Students will then use the keywords to find the sentence in the passage that contains the keywords to choose the correct answer. As the teacher, I will upload different reading comprehension pages. For homework, the students will be assigned a worksheet daily to complete using what they learned during class. Each student’s progress will be evaluated at the end of each day. Learners will introduce themselves on the first day of class. Day 1: Context clues: we will practice using context clues, Teacher will provide learners with a worksheet to practice. Day 2: Students will use context clues and keywords to find answers. Day 3: Students will read passages and practice predictions and summarizing. Day 4: Retelling stories and visualizing The teacher will provide learners with worksheets and passages before class. Learners will review and define vocabulary words for each passage before reading. Learners will be given a minute before reading to look through the passage and find words that they are not familiar with. We will define those words before reading.
