In this 45-minute class, students will focus on mastering a key literacy skill for reading comprehension while simultaneously applying it to their writing. By integrating reading and writing, students reinforce comprehension skills through real-time practice as authors. They’ll explore the diverse purposes of writing and understand its varying criteria. Ideal for reviewing essential skills or learning new reading strategies. This class is perfect for students who are supplementing, or need extra support for comprehension and writing. You can subscribe for one class or continue for ongoing support! Lesson Outline *read a short passage together and discuss aloud (5 mins) *use the organizer that addresses a common reading comprehension skill to guide our discussions (15 mins) *use another organizer with this same skill and brainstorm ideas to practice the reading skill but as an AUTHOR. (10 mins) *students complete the organizer with teacher guidance and discussion (10 mins) *share out any final thoughts (5 mins) *After class, students are encouraged to complete their writing when class has ended on draft paper. *After class, students are also encouraged to read 20-30 minutes and practice the skill of the day from our lesson.
