Each week of this ongoing club will be filled with discussions about all things books and reading. Students will be encouraged to bring their favorite book or a book they are currently reading to share and recommend to their classmates. We will also discuss different genres and reading preferences and new and upcoming releases that the students are excited about.

This club will be learner led which means that the learners will, for the most part, direct the flow of the conversation. The teacher will take part and moderate to make sure that the class stays on topic, but the main purpose of this club is for readers to have a chance to talk about their favorite subject--Books!

Unlike a traditional book club, learners will not be required to read anything specific for each meeting. They will be free to share books they have read in the past or that they are currently reading and to  discuss any other topic related to the book and literary world. 

In addition, during each meeting, the teacher will share at least one book related resource with the class. It may be a highly interactive author's website, a place to find new book recommendations, an innovative piece of reading technology, etc. Students may also share book related resources and information as they wish.

Bottom line: This club is a safe place for book lovers to talk about books. Discussions will be positive and encouraging. Hopefully students will even make a new friend or two over their shared interest in reading.
