수업 소개
영어 수준 - 알 수 없음
미국 3학년 - 6학년 학년
In this ongoing course, students will practice their creative writing through engaging discussion and writing prompts. Each week, the teacher will provide a different fun writing prompt designed to help students tap into their creativity and spark thoughtful discussion. Prompts are just a jumping-off point; students always have complete control over their work and can take it in any direction they choose! Before class begins, students are encouraged to read the prompt and spend about 15-20 minutes writing a response. This draft will be what they bring to class. The lesson will open with a short warm-up question to begin discussion and also teach some writing concepts. Next, the class will practice collective brainstorming to give students ideas and a chance to engage with the prompt. Lastly, students will have time to share their writing if they choose or to continue working on it as a draft. Students can submit their writing to the teacher for more detailed feedback during or after the lesson. However, this is always optional. The purpose of this club is to give students community and structure to improve their writing. We will not focus on formal writing instruction, but rather inspiration and ideas. Students are welcome at any experience or confidence level, and the teacher will adapt to meet student needs. The class environment will be interactive and casual. Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas! I can't wait to hear what you're working on. Class schedule: Week of October 21 Prompt: Write a story involving a monster. Warm-up: Think of Frankenstein. Is your monster good or bad? Week of October 28 Prompt: Write from the point of view of a tree losing it's leaves in fall. Warm-up: How would it feel? Sad? Tired? Relieved? Week of November 4 Prompt: Write a story set in the future. Imagine the technology. Warm-up: Is the future a better place or a worse one? Week of November 11 Prompt: You get a magical sweater for your birthday. Warm-up: What are the powers? What do you do while wearing it?

Hi! My name is Sara Gatilogo. I graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Secondary English Education. I am certified in high school English, middle grades Language Arts, and special education. I've been an educator for 6 years in a variety of settings.
Experience:
1 year student teaching with 10th grade honors students
3 years 7th grade Exceptional Children’s Language Arts
3 years ESL online with VIPkid
Almost one year on Outschool and loving every minute of it!
I am passionate about building authentic positive relationships with my students. By modeling healthy relationships and creating a safe place for them to flourish, I hope to give my students life skills beyond the content I teach. I create safe, inviting spaces for kids to build relationships with other students, practicing the skills of empathy in the context of a caring community.
My husband and I have two daughters and two dogs. I love to read, bake, and knit (but not all at the same time!). I can't wait to see you in class!
