Students will learn the vocabulary and concepts needed to talk about books and make helpful recommendations to their peers. They will also practice the social skills of active listening, asking questions, and taking turns.

I bring seven years of experience working as a Library Associate in the children's department of a large public library, and more than three years of teaching early literacy right here on Outschool!

The homework is to read twenty minutes every day — any book in any language. During my early literacy training at the public library, I learned an incredible fact: If you read for just 20 minutes a day, you will read 1.8 million words in one year! 

Therefore, Teacher Christina wants everyone to read for twenty minutes a day. Not only will this daily reading habit expose the learner to 1.8 million words in a year, it will instill in them a lifelong love of reading. With reading being the cornerstone of all subsequent learning, the daily reading habit is the simplest, least expensive way to set your child up for a lifetime of success and joy.
