ROBOTC로 가상 또는 자체 VEX IQ 로봇 프로그래밍 - 레벨 2

In the second six-week class, students continue will continue to program VEX IQ robots for autonomous missions.  Students will complete virtual missions by programming their robot to perform in various scenarios.  We will learn more advanced programming concepts incorporating looping, if/else and while statements.  We will look at how the physical design of a robot affects its programming, and learn how to program and configure remote controllers.  We will also discuss robots in the news and look more extensively at careers in robotics, robots in space, robots in the military, etc.

Live sessions will introduce the week’s concepts, mission, and will review and troubleshoot the previous week’s assignment. Online sessions will consist of the instructor introducing and modeling the concept, then students will use this skill to problem-solve a specific scenario, with live testing and help and feedback from each other and the teacher.  We will be using ROBOTC Graphical interface to program the robots and will be testing our programs virtually using the Robot Virtual Worlds simulation environment. Students will be expected to finish programs during the week outside of class time after the main concept is introduced and mastered.  (Approximately 1/2 to 3/4 of the assignment will be done together in class.) The teacher will be available for help during the week via messaging or by appointment.

Our syllabus may be adjusted for learner comprehension and individual interests, but the planned schedule is as follows:

Lesson 1 and 2 - Palm Island Tropical Island Simulation.  We will review and integrate the forward/turn/forward until touch or near/turn for angle/forward until color commands to complete this Robot Virtual Worlds mission.

Lesson 3 - We will investigate Program Flow and learn to program loops which include if/else and while structures.  We will also learn how to program the robot to follow a line.

Lesson 4 - We will complete the Search and Rescue programming challenge in Robot Virtual Worlds using the commands and features we have previously learned.

Lesson 5 - We will use the Operation Reset world in Robot Virtual Worlds, an outer-space themed world that challenges students to use logic and programming to complete the mission.

Lesson 6 - Remote control/Operator Assist - In this unit, we will configure and program the buttons and joysticks on the VEX IQ controller.  We will also wrap up the session with student-contributed “Robots in the News” articles and discuss careers in Robotics.

Please note the Materials requirements below for this class, as there is a software purchase required for the simulation software (or if you want to purchase an optional physical robot). Unfortunately, most of the software we will use only works on Windows and not Macintosh computers.  The license is good for a year, so if you have completed the first class with me, your license is hopefully still good.  If you are coming in with equivalent experience from another class or program, you will need to download RobotC and purchase and download Robot Virtual Worlds simulation add-on. (I will be happy to assist you with this.)
