**Get $15 off this class with coupon code HAMRI15OFF15. This class is 90 mins/week. I offer a Monday/Wednesday/Friday section (30 mins each class. I also offer a Tuesday/Thursday section (45 mins each class). What will be taught? In this class, students will receive explicit and systematic phonics instruction using UFLI Foundations. UFLI is a research-based and evidence-based phonics program that uses a multi-sensory approach to reading. *This kind of approach is often recommended for students with dyslexia. How is this class structured? During the first class, your child will complete the CORE Phonics Screener. This test will tell me exactly where your child is in reading ability and where we will need to begin in our reading instruction. After that, learners will participate in four 30 minute classes per week. We will repeat the CORE Phonics Screener every 2 weeks to check for growth. We will follow this eight-step routine with each new sound/spelling pattern: 1. Phonemic Awareness 2. Visual Drill 3. Auditory Drill 4. Blending Drill 5. New Concept 6. Word Work 7. Irregular Words 8. Connected Text How much will learners get to interact with the teacher and each other? Because this is a private tutoring class, learners will receive individualized attention and will be interacting with me through games, slides, and discussion. Any required experience or knowledge learners need? No. Students will be given the CORE Phonics Screener during the first class. This will help me to determine where to begin instruction for your child. Additional Information: - We will not have class the week of Christmas. - If for some reason your child is not able to attend a class, please let me know at least 12 hours in advance and I will make every effort to reschedule the class. I cannot promise that there will always be another spot available for reschedules. -I cannot make up classes that are missed with no previous notice.
