Hello! My name is Teacher Courtney. Welcome to my class! This private 1:1 class is designed for students who are familiar with short vowel sounds and are ready to learn long vowel sounds with silent E. Students will read and spell CVCe [consonant-vowel-consonant-silent E] words and words with the Long E Vowel Teams [ee, ea]. Examples: cape, ride, beef, peas, etc. This class is a great introduction or review class for long vowel sounds and words with silent E. I will be using a PowerPoint presentation to teach this class. Weekly Class Schedule Class 1/Week 1: Long A CVCe Word Patterns Class 2/Week 2: Long E Vowel Teams Class 3/Week 3: Long I CVCe Word Patterns Class 4/Week 4: Long O CVCe Word Patterns Class 5/Week 5: Long U CVCe Word Patterns Class 6/Week 6: Review Class Structure These lessons are divided into 3 sections. In the 1st section, students will practice reading CVCe words and words with the Long E vowel teams [ee, ea]. Examples: tube, cane, bone, meat, feet, etc. Students will sound out and blend the letters into words. In the 2nd section, students will practice spelling CVCe words and words with the Long E vowel teams. In the last section, students will match pictures that represent the corresponding short/long vowel sounds with support from Teacher. Please note: Students are not required to complete part 1 of this class series prior to starting part 2. Students may enroll into this class whenever they are ready or need assistance with practicing long vowel sounds with silent E. Learning Goals
Students will be able to read and spell CVCe words and words with the Long E Vowel Teams. Students will be able to distinguish short/long vowel sounds from each other.

Pre-Requisites
Students should be proficient in reading words with short vowel sounds [CVC words such as cat, dog, etc.].

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! Welcome to my profile! My name is Courtney Como. I mainly teach English language arts and reading classes to students in preschool through 2nd grade [ages 3-8]. My lessons are primarily focused on reading and phonics skills. I specialize in teaching online classes with private, one-on-one instruction. My teaching strategies are tailored to meet your child's needs based on their interests and skill level. This allows me to teach at your child's pace while adapting the lesson to your child. I love interacting with students individually while providing them with the attention and support that they need to succeed. I am friendly, encouraging, and very patient.
I have 4 years of online teaching experience. This experience includes teaching ESL [English as a Second Language] online to beginner and intermediate level students from China and other countries along with teaching English language arts and reading classes online to preschool and elementary school students from all over the world. Overall, I have taught over 1000+ online classes thus far! I also have 1-2 years of experience tutoring elementary and middle school students while attending college. I have a Bachelor of General Studies with specializations in Psychology and Education from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. I also completed an advanced TESOL [English Teaching] certificate as well. My goal is to not only teach students, but to inspire them to reach their full potential and encourage them to learn to the best of their ability.
I have 9 years of experience mentoring and advocating for children and families in the nonprofit sector. Later, I decided to pursue a non-traditional career in education, which is teaching online. Learning doesn’t just take place inside the classroom. I love being able to teach students from all over the world through an internet connection. I am so excited to continue my teaching endeavors with Outschool!
