Hi parents and students!  I offer private piano and keyboard lessons that will be customized to your student’s level and learning style.  I offer private lessons for absolute beginners through late intermediate levels.

For beginners, I will recommend a piano method book to purchase (or download).  For students with prior piano experience, I am familiar with and have many levels of these popular methods on hand:  Faber, Piano Pronto, Bastien, Step by Step, and  Alfred Premier.  Before the class starts we can discuss what would be the right book and music for your child’s level.  

A private lesson will include direct explanation and technique instruction with new music, theory, and scales (depending on level).  I will be demonstrating how to play the new music, and then have the student play the piece themselves using constructive corrections to further their piano skills.

I believe that piano students benefit from a variety of music styles and composers.  Even in my earliest levels I provide a variety of music styles and composers so that students are not stuck in a particular method or style.  I also believe in providing students with pieces that may sound familiar and will encourage students to practice and find joy in performing familiar-sounding songs for family and friends.

I enjoy piano pedagogy, and I have quite a collection of children’s solos and books for levels primary - level 4.  This knowledge will guide selection of inspirational new pieces for children to learn alongside their method book. 

Students may opt for weekly lessons or enroll in two sections for lessons twice a week.  I offer weekly summer classes with some students opting to take twice a week during the summer.
