수업 소개
The student will learn via my instruction on zoom. I will pull up images of guitar chord charts so the learner can continue to read chord charts on their own. I will meet the learned at their level (absolute beginner to intermediate) and will guide them through learning basic guitar chords, strumming, and proper guitar care. Songwriting is a tool I use for learners to stay motivated and engaged. I will offer this option to those who feel comfortable. The goal of this class is to get the learner playing comfortably on their instrument (this usually means that the learner will be able to play their favorite songs), the goal of this course is not to quiz the student's knowledge of music and guitar theory.

Students will learn how to play basic guitar chords such as A, Am, D, Dm, C, Cm, G, Gm, E, Em, and F (which is a little more advanced). They will also learn basic rhythm and strumming, as well as picking. The learner's journey will be shaped by their interests, and not by a standardized lesson plan. I believe in maintaining a student's natural motivation, this is why I do not pressure the learner to do rigorous practice exercises, rather I encourage them to keep finding things they'd like to play. Thankfully each new song will teach something new naturally.

The learner must attend class with a guitar that fits their hands. Full-size guitars can be too big for some children, making it impossible for them to reach all the strings. Please check this before starting class :) Even though learners will learn to tune their own guitars during class, I highly suggest that the student gets assistance between classes to get their guitar tuned. Sometimes it is very difficult to get a perfect pitch via Zoom.

Songwriting is one of my favorite things to do, teach, and talk about. I believe that is holds immense power for expressing ourselves, documenting life, and connecting with others.
When I'm not teaching I am fully immersed in my craft and career as a singer-songwriter. As well as seeking other business opportunities such as selling songwriting journals on Amazon through my brand, Melancholy Society.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, I find that I value - above all - the emotional comfort of each student (in a situation where their physical safety and health are already taken care of). This is because I believe learning is maximized when each person is comfortable, engaged, and in harmony with their self-expression. I value establishing trust in a student/teacher relationship, as well as hearing my student's learning needs, so I can assist them in a way that is best for THEM.
I teach my subjects in a way that requires active participation and collaboration with activities such as games, conversations, and hands-on activities.
Students hold the power to creating the learning experience that suits them best, and it's my job to guide them through realizing that power.
