In this ongoing class, we will meet 3x a week for a group circle time. Every week we will have a new summer theme! Each class will have a variety of greetings, songs, early math and literacy concept practice, mini games and discussion opportunities. In class we will begin with a greeting song, followed by a quick sharing opportunity to build community in our class. Next, we'll introduce the weekly theme. Students will develop group time skills such as turn-taking, questioning and answering, and focusing attention. Students will be able to sing along and participate in a group activity or game. Students will develop letter recognition and understanding of letter-sound correlation. Students will develop number recognition, sequencing, sorting, patterning, shapes, colors and simple addition/subtraction skills.
Helpful tools to have on hand for this class include: blank paper and writing materials (pencil, crayons/colored pencils/markers) OR a whiteboard and markers.
