During this class, students will be taught book orientation (cover, title, author/illustrator, pages, words, pictures, spine, back), reading comprehension through questions asked during the reading, listening skills during the read through, one to one counting correspondence using multiple materials (story, felt board, craft, fingers), and creative expression if student participates in craft. The class will be structured by starting with a greeting and hello song, followed by an introduction to the story, and counting to ten. After the introduction, students will learn the book orientation song and then listen to the 10 yellow duck story. During the read through, students will be prompted with questions such as "What is going to happen to the ducks?" "How many ducks went away?" "Where did the duck go?" and count down from 10 to 0 as the story goes on. After the story, students will help "retell" what happened using a felt board to sequence the story. Students will end the class by singing a goodbye song and if opting into the craft, will stay and follow along with a 10 yellow duck counting craft. Students will be instructed using a book, felt board, and crafting materials and interactions will be composed of periodic prompting and I try - you try situations.

If your student would like to participate in the craft portion of our class, I have listed below the supplies you will need. - One standard piece of paper (any color) for the background of our craft. - Yellow paper to make the ten ducks or the printable duck sheet included in the course's welcome message. - A blue marker to draw and color the pond for the ducks to swim in - A glue stick
