Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
In this class, students will be introduced to Pre-Algebra concepts. This class is a supportive environment where students can become familiar and comfortable with Pre-Algebra topics, and have a lot of opportunities for practice.

Background Knowledge: Students should be fluent with basic math operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students should have also previously studied adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and signed numbers, although these skills will be reviewed.

Guided notes and practice problems will be provided for each session. All you need is access to a printer.

During class, the I will guide students through the provided guided lecture notes following an "I Do, We Do, You Do" format. Students will first take notes while I explain each method. Then, students will have an opportunity to practice applying the method with a lot of teacher support. Finally, students will practice applying the methods on their own by completing a homework assignment. Time is set aside at the beginning of class to ask questions and get help on homework problems.
