Suggested Supplies:
Polymer Clay (any brand you prefer. I like to use Sculpey). *In total, approximately 1/2 of a 2oz. brick is plenty per dragon!* (a tiny bit goes a LONG way with miniatures!!)
Basic Sculpting tools, toothpick, smoothing tool
A Baking sheet (covered with parchment)
Cutting tool or clay knife
A non stick surface to work on (You can cover a piece of cardboard with parchment paper and tape it to the bottom…that works)
A small rolling pin
Variety of colors of polymer clay (whatever colors you want for your dragons)
Metal sculpting/jewelry wire or wooden toothpicks (to attach the head to body)
Note: I like to use Translucent polymer clay for wings and fins so they have a clear appearance, but that is optional.
Small GLASS beads or Crystals for eyes (for 3 of the dragons). I use 6.0 size seed beads. You may use clay if you cannot access these.
NO PLASTIC. We can only bake Glass, Wood, Metal and natural stone/crystal.
OPTIONAL: A glass marble, crystal, bead or stone (for weeks 2 and 3)
Aluminum Foil (for propping)

OPTIONAL:
Clear Water-Based Gloss Polyurethane, Mod Podge or Sculpey Gloss Glaze for after baking

**Polymer clay requires baking according to the package direction. (Generally ~275 °F, depending on your brand of clay). You may do this after class. Parental help is necessary.

NOTE: Students may use air dry clay or modeling dough if they prefer not to use polymer bake clay

*Ms. Lori (she/her)

B.F.A in Fashion Design
A.A.S in Illustration/Art History
A.A.S in Graphic Design

Hi there! I'm Lori—a Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) graduate with over 30 years of experience in the design industry. My journey spans from fashion illustration, pattern making, and garment construction to designing full storyboards for buyers. I’ve also tutored aspiring fashion designers in fashion illustration, helping them build professional portfolios for industry interviews.

While my current profession is in graphic design, fashion illustration remains my creative escape from the digital world. I believe that mastering the fundamentals of design unlocks endless possibilities, allowing you to bring your creative visions to life.

When I'm not sketching or designing, you’ll find me spending time with my furry little beasts—because animals are another passion of mine!

Ready to explore the world of fashion design and illustration? Let’s create something amazing together!

Beyond game design, Rori enjoys aquascaping, crafting beautifully designed aquariums and habitats for their favorite fish—Betta fish. They currently care for two bettas and maintain four tanks, combining artistry with aquatic life.

*Angel Rivera Diaz (Mr. A)
Master’s degree in Educational Technology
Graduate degree in Special Education

I’ve been in education for over 14 years, with 8 of those years as a special education teacher specializing in working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, and those with diverse learning needs. I also have a strong background in technology integration and cybersecurity.

In addition to K-12 education, I’ve taught photography, film, video, and animation at Marquette University, where I also ran the Multimedia Technology Lab for over five years. My passion for education and technology led me to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and I’m currently enrolled in an Information Technology graduate program. I’m also just 8 credits away from completing a graduate degree in Special Education.

My approach to learning is a mix of structure and flexibility—giving students the tools they need while encouraging independence, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. I enjoy incorporating technology, hands-on activities, and real-world applications to make learning meaningful and engaging.

Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about photography and travel, and I have a house full of rescue dogs who take their job as my personal “security team” very seriously. Looking forward to connecting!

*Heylon Wolter

Hello, my name is Heylon (like Van Halen) I have been drawing my whole life. When I was about 12 I fell in love with computers and IT and so digital art became a natural passion. I have worked with medical IT companies branding and designing assets and have worked with companies like Fantasy Flight Games producing assets for packaging. I love art and look forward to sharing my knowledge with others who want to learn.
