IMPORTANT: Due to low enrollments in the live classes, I encourage you to consider taking the “flex” version of this class. It contains the same content and can be taken on a flexible schedule. What’s more, I offer a “pay what you can” discount for all flex classes! Just sign up for the class and then send a message requesting your preferred discount. Here’s a link to the flex version of this course:

▬▬▬▬▬▬ COURSE SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬▬

In this class, we'll learn how mammals are classified into taxonomic groups called "orders." We'll study what traits and behaviors each order shares with the Pokémon we know and love. Students will compare and contrast these creatures when reading/listening to descriptions, examining pictures, and watching video clips of the fictional characters side by side with real mammals. We'll become pros at using a Venn Diagram as a comparison tool, and we'll try our hand at Dichotomous Keys and Cladograms.

Students will also try their hand at designing their own mammalian Pokémon, make a Venn Diagram, brainstorm how their Pokémon compares to a real mammal, and present it to the class. Discussion questions, supplementary videos, and worksheets will be posted weekly on the class page, so that students can practice their skills independently, and communicate with their classmates throughout the week. All homework assignments are optional and completed at the discretion of the parent.

▬▬▬▬▬▬ SCHEDULE REQUESTS ▬▬▬▬▬▬

I create my entire teaching schedule based on schedule requests, so if you don't see a time that works for you, please put in a request! I can only teach live classes from 9 AM to 4 PM Arizona time, however. If you can't take it in that time frame, check out the FLEX version of this class, which includes the same material, but you can do it on your own schedule!
