Students who take the Pirate Geometry class will hone their skills in understanding, identifying, and creating basic geometric figures. Each student will create his/her own project using the basic shapes and following specific instructions (even though each project will turn out very different). This project can potentially serve as a review of the concepts, or an assessment to prove mastery.

Students enrolling in Pirate Geometry should have already been exposed to these Geometric figures: points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (acute, obtuse, and right), intersecting lines, parallel lines, and perpendicular lines. We will review/introduce the terms before starting the project, I reserve about a third of the class time just for this!

This is a one time class, so there will not be any homework assigned. However, if your student enjoyed the project, I can send him/her the instruction checklist to use to create another project! I also have a grading rubric to evaluate the projects if you require a formal evaluation for your records. 

The age range for this class is not strictly enforced! These are concepts that are usually introduced in small increments from 3rd grade on. The class is low stress and pretty informal, so many younger students will still get a lot out of it. Older students who like the project based learning model and need the refresher will also enjoy the class!
