This course consists of "traditional style" piano lessons based on a purchased piano book. Learners should purchase "ShowTime Piano Disney: Level 2A". The book includes songs in various hand positions with hands moving to different positions during songs. Songs also include chords and accidentals.

This is a great supplemental class for current piano learners and/or learners who are familiar with finger numbers and who are comfortable moving out of standard finger positions. 
 
During class, learners will review previous material, learn and practice new material, perform for the class and learn music theory concepts. Learners will be presented with visuals of the music as well as a view of the teacher's piano. Learners will identify notes on the staff, note names, and note duration as they learn to read music on the treble staff and bass staff. Learners will learn 1 song over 2-3 weeks. However, the schedule will be adjust as needed.

Learners may want to make notes in their books to help them practice throughout the week. Some learners may need assistance in marking music and throughout the lesson to facilitate understanding.
 
Learners should practice between classes to improve their skills. Videos and class notes will be posted to the classroom to assist with practice.
 
The outline of the class is below. The pacing of the class may be changed as needed. Because the songs are longer and more complicated, three weeks are set aside for each song, but the schedule will be adjusted as needed. Also, the class may decide/vote to learn the songs in a different order.

Concepts covered in this course include dynamics, accent, eighth notes, half rest, whole rest, quarter rest, fermata, endings, flat, sharp, natural, repeat signs, ritardando, slur, staccato, time signature and tie.
