This is a 1:1 tutoring class designed to help give your child a boost in their reading skills. Some of the areas we will focus on include: phonics skills, sight words, reading fluency, spelling, comprehension, and more. Each class will be tailored to the needs of your child. Parents are encouraged to provide input through the Outschool messaging center. During the first class, I will spend some time assessing your child's reading ability to help determine which skills to focus on first. My goal is to help your child learn to have fun reading while also improving his/her reading skills. I will be using colorful slides and flashcards to practice the concepts we are learning. I will also create sentences and short stories for your child to read in class. On some days we may play a fun game at the end of class to reinforce what we have learned. I hope to see your learner in my class!

We will occasionally be reading books and doing worksheets from the website www.readingA-Z.com.

Hello! My name is Miss Mary Jane. I have a B.S. degree in elementary education from Calvary Bible College. I also have a 120-hour TESOL certificate. My husband and I live in Nebraska and are the parents of six awesome kids! I have homeschooled each of our children through high school. In addition to homeschooling, I've also taught ESL online, to students in China for the past six years. I love to see children learn, and to have fun while learning! My hope is that each child will feel comfortable in my classes and will feel free to ask questions about things they don't understand. Most of my classes are interactive and student-centered.
